He stood in his parent's expensive house, in his parents expensive kitchen and looked out at his parents extensive garden and expensive cars.  Except it was all his now. And there was no point in bitching about.

 

Dad had decided to leave everything to his one and only degenerate, (his word) alcoholic and worthless son.
